I am not interested in my client’s innocence or guilt; I don’t seek justice. When I’m the defense attorney, my sole purpose is acquittal. Our Judicial system gives everyone a different and distinct task. The job of the court is justice. The job of the prosecutor is conviction. My job as a defense attorney is acquittal. I am a mercenary who vigorously defends his clients. An accused person comes to me to be his warrior; he demands that I protect his rights. I have to close my eyes to the needs of society and do all I can to ethically protect him. When the rule of law applies equally to all our society is the winner and our rights have value, only when protected and applied to our least defensible citizens.
