What Can I Do About My Oklahoma Driving Privileges?
The state of Oklahoma is trying to crack down on DUIs and has implemented new rules surrounding offenders. The biggest change is that a person is in serious danger of losing his or her right to drive after an arrest for a DUI.
How Can I Stay On the Road?
For many people, driving is an absolute necessity to keep their jobs and stay financially afloat. Therefore, there are options that can keep a person on the road.
- Ignition Interlock Devices (IID)- These devices are installed around the ignition of a car, and require a Breathalyzer test to start the car. If person reads as having consumed alcohol, the car will not start. The device will continue to require tests at sporadic intervals during any trip. There will be delay every time a person starts the engine to allow for the test to calculate the results and then allow the engine to start. This presents safety issues as a person could be sitting in a disabled car, so extra caution should be taken when deciding where to park.
Fighting the Revocation in Court – This means filing a petition in the District Court. The case will go to trial before a judge and DPS must prove that the revocation is valid. If you chose this option we have the only attorney in the State who is devoted full time to saving your license.
Even if DPS succeeds in convincing the judge the revocation is correct, an Interlock will still be avaible to you.
