Question: Can you explain Oklahoma’s zero tolerance laws?
Answer: The area that I would think of zero tolerance would be referencing marijuana driving. I think we have very, very poorly law there because it states that some person can be guilty of DUI of marijuana simply for metabolites. Now, a person, I had a friend that was in Denver last weekend. I don’t know whether he did or didn’t, but if he partook of marijuana at that time, the metabolites would still be in his body a week, two weeks, three, possibly even four weeks later. The effect of the marijuana only lasts for about 90 minutes. But the, like ashes in a fire like a fire is over I guess you would say, there would still be residue in the body which we refer to as metabolites. It does not impair a person. Under Oklahoma law, if you have those residues in your body, you are guilty of DUI of marijuana. And I would call that a zero tolerance.
